DIAFIN layers can be perfectly adapted to the materials being machined using cBN and diamond particles. They can be deposited with an accuracy of 1 µ on almost any contour, thus meeting the highest tolerance requirements. DIAFIN layers can be used very flexibly for grinding, milling, turning, and finishing.

Coatings for Machining Tools

Machining tools for milling or grinding are manufactured with contours accurate to 1 µ and then coated with diamond or cBN particles. With DIAFIN D or cBN layers, the contours can be maintained within these exact tolerances, and the layer thickness is precisely defined according to the particle size. Applications include dressing tools for threads, gears, and gauges for these purposes. Coating grinding tools is also an application area for DIAFIN layers. Tools coated with DIAFIN layers can be reworked multiple times by stripping and recoating. This also allows wear on the base body to be compensated for by recoating with additional stock.

Tools for Cutting Processes

Tools for machining non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and diamond are advantageously coated with DIAFIN® chemical nickel diamond layers.

For machining steel materials, the incorporation of cubic boron nitride has proven effective. CCT DIAFIN® dispersion layers combine the contour accuracy and high strength of the chemical nickel matrix with the high hardness of the embedded solid particles.
