Coating and Services

Your Solution for Custom Precision Coating as Contract Manufacturing

With Coating & Services, CCT covers the entire spectrum of functional surface finishing – from chemical nickel to electrolytic nickel to hard chrome and all common dispersion systems, individually tailored to component and application, from single parts to full series.

Process

Custom Coating

Just as the phrase "form follows function" became a design principle worldwide, functional coating must also follow the same criteria. Only through appropriate coating do refined components fulfill their full function. This makes clear the significance of the coating process, and thus also that it is a highly qualified process.

Functional coatings are a cross-disciplinary technology spanning chemistry, materials science, and tribology. This complex field still offers untapped possibilities for developing customized coating solutions, but also requires knowledge and understanding of the various specialist areas.

CCT has an experienced team of chemists, materials experts, and practice-oriented coating specialists, some with decades of experience in their respective fields.

In internal and external projects, we work together with our partners to develop application-specific coatings for tribological applications. Our customers come from a variety of industry sectors, including automotive technology, textile and printing machinery, and energy technology.

Know-How

Trustworthy Handling of Projects

The coatings we develop can either be marketed using CCT GmbH as a contract coater, or transferred to the client through a know-how transfer, including the plant technology.

The successful implementation of joint projects requires trustworthy handling of sensitive information, which is why no details on customer-related development projects can be disclosed here. This can only succeed if equally highly qualified coating technology specialists develop the process and carry it out – as the basis for optimal results in all applications.

The processes used in our coating department represent the highest level of development in functional coating technology. The focus of the coating processes in use is on dispersion layers based on state-of-the-art chemical nickel and electrolytic nickel systems.

Alloy depositions with tungsten, iron, cobalt, gold, or silver form the combination with high-quality particles of diamond, boron carbide, boron nitride, and silicon carbide – the area where coating systems become highly individually tailored “designer layers.”

FAQ

What does CCT’s Coating & Services division offer?

We provide contract coating services for your components, from individual parts to production runs. Our range extends from electroless nickel and electroplated nickel to hard chrome and all common dispersion systems. We tailor the processes and coatings individually to each component and its specific application.

We have experience in the fields of printing, aerospace, automotive, textile machinery, mechanical engineering, energy technology, and automation, among others.

What coating processes do you offer?

We work with electroless nickel, electroplated nickel, and hard chrome. We also use electroless nickel and electroplated nickel for dispersion systems.

Electroless nickel is also suitable for complex geometries. Electrolytic nickel and hard chrome are used in reactor technology. In addition, we offer chemical deburring in combination with all substrate pretreatments.

What dispersant materials are available, and what effects do they have?

Silicon carbide, hexagonal boron nitride, boron carbide, and diamond are available. Depending on the application, these materials can be used to increase or decrease the coefficient of friction, as well as to combine corrosion and wear protection.

By depositing alloys containing tungsten, iron, cobalt, gold, or silver, the coating system can be further tailored to the specific application.

What component sizes and batch sizes are possible?

All components are possible—whether small parts or large segmented components—and all batch sizes. We manufacture individual prototypes as well as production parts.
We either work according to your specifications or collaborate with you to develop a suitable solution.

Which materials can be coated?

Typical substrate materials include aluminum, hardened steels, other steel grades, and specialty materials.

For temperature-sensitive substrates such as aluminum and hardened steels, we select coatings with a low phosphorus content. Heat treatment above 150 °C can lead to microstructural changes and a loss of hardness in these materials.

Since electroless nickel plating is applied without an external power source, internal geometries, bores, and undercuts can also be coated uniformly.

How do you ensure consistent quality?

We are ISO 9001 certified for the development and delivery of process technologies and coatings for tribological systems. The certificate is available for download in German and English.

In our in-house laboratory, we also conduct initial sample test reports, material testing, metallography, and failure analyses.

How do you handle confidential component data?

Handling sensitive information with the utmost trust is crucial for joint projects. That is why we always treat customer projects as confidential. For this reason, we do not publish any details about customer-specific development projects on our website.

Can I also operate the process in-house?

Yes. You can either have the developed coating manufactured by us as a contract coating service or adopt the process as part of a know-how transfer, including the necessary equipment.

For the second option, we design systems for electroless nickel plating, dispersion coating, and chemical deburring.

How do I submit a request for my component?

The best way to do this is to use our contact form with the subject line “Coating & Services.” If you already have a detailed requirements profile, sketches, or technical drawings, you can upload them directly.

Based on this information, we will determine the appropriate process and coating system and prepare a customized quote for you.
